About us
Horstmann was founded in 1946 and since that time it has been a successful family-owned company. Due to its long experience and the ongoing expansion
activities in research and development we are today recognized as a leading manufacturer in medium voltage technology for:
Short-circuit and earth fault indicators
Voltage testers and voltage detecting systems
Earthing devices and accessories.
The worldwide distribution is covered by both our own highly qualified sales force and international representatives. Our products meet the highest quality
requirements and are developed and manufactured in own production facilities in Germany. In order to respond to these demands, we have a very high vertical depth of production (e.g. own SMD assembly system) as well as an own research and development department with state-of-the-art testing and measuring equipment. Besides the electronics manufacturing, we have also a mechanical production facility for safety material.

Products & Services
Solutions for medium voltage distribution networks:
- Short-circuit and earth fault indicators (directional)
- Solutions for smart monitoring and fault detection
- Remote monitoring/connection to local SCADA
- Voltage detectors and phase-comparators
- Voltage detecting systems
- Grounding devices, hot sticks and safety equipment.
Smart Navigator 2.0
overhead line and provides measured values and fault
information to the control room without the need for a
pole-mounted box. The indicator is a self-powered
sensor, which harvests its power supply from the
overhead line. Power is stored in a rechargeable
lithium cell for long periods of time with low or no-load
current. A set of three units, consisting of one master
and two satellites units exist at each monitored location.
Wega 2
The device determines and displays the operating
conditions of the medium-voltage systems according to
EN 50110-1. Product highlights: - Integrated phaseselective
voltage display - Full LRM interface (IEC
62271-213) - Display test button - Variable connection
options (flat plug & system plug) - Completely
encapsulated - thus durable and increased work
safety.
ComPass D
substations in a medium voltage network that feature a
remote control connection. In addition to the shortcircuit
and earth fault function, ComPass D supplies
the collected measured values of current, voltage and
power from the station for transmission to the control
room. The PT-100 sensor measures the temperature,
for example of the transformer or the transformer
station.
