About us

We have got more than 90 years of experience in the field of safety power supply. In 1916, Ruhstrat built the first emergency lighting system for places of assembly. As a competent supplier of battery-assisted power supplies, we specialize not only in modern safety lighting systems but also in DC power supplies, battery-assisted central power supply systems (BSV – previously ZSV) as well as uninterrupted power supplies (UPS). Ruhstrat’s BSV / ZSV devices are used for surgical lighting and critical medical devices in hospitals. Our USV devices maintain power supply in industrial plants and in computer networks.

Safety Power Supply

Power outages also occur in Germany. For some, it might be just a few seconds or minutes; for others, it can be life-threatening or may cause major damage. Safety power supply is a current source for security purposes. In the event of a power outages, we supply electrical equipment that is essential for the health and safety of people and the prevention of environmental damage. Since electrical energy in buildings with electrotechnical applications has increased, the safety power supply is of major importance.

Safety Lighting

With our battery-powered systems, emergency signs as well as safety lights will ensure a safe exit from the building, and to avoid accidents after a power outage. They are a key factor in orientation of the building to make sure that even nonlocal people will find their way out of the building. The installation, maintenance, and condition of a safety lighting system are governed by a large number of rules and regulations that are interlinked by references. This concerns both lighting and electrotechnical issues.

RUSIC® 24

RUSIC® 24 monitors and tests all connected emergency luminaires in accordance with the specifications of VDE 0108 and
DIN EN 62034. The necessary checks can be triggered automatically or manually, depending on the configuration.

Up to 160 emergency luminaires can be connected to one RUSIC® 24. The fault messages are stored so that there is no need to keep a manual test log in accordance with E DIN VDE 0108-100 – ATS type PERC (DIN EN 62034). Messages can be forwarded to a central control station via potential-free contacts or a web connection.

R-BSV Ultimate 24 OP

These BSV systems contain the mandatory signaling and monitoring devices, which are required by VDE 0558-507. They primarily consist of:

  • a charging and discharging device with I-U characteristic

  • A control unit and monitoring device

  • Output branch circuit with a switched-mode DC/DC converter

  • Auxiliary equipment

  • Device housing and battery casing

The rectifier and the battery are connected in parallel with the load through the DC/DC converter. When the grid voltage is available, the rectifier supplies the load and keeps the battery fully charged with a constant voltage. If the load exceeds the rated current of the device, the battery will provide additional power. If a power outage occurs, the battery will provide an uninterrupted power supply for the surgical lighting. When the power is restored, the power supply provides the power while at the same time the battery will be recharged. The rated current of the device is limited to 100 % ±2 %. The differential current between the rated current and the load current flows into the battery. The load will be supplied by a switched-mode DC/DC converter with constant DC voltage.

R-BSV 230 V

Battery-Assisted Central Power Supply System (BSV) for Hospitals and Medical Care Units

n uninterrupted power supply can be vital – especially in medical facilities which perform the same medical tasks as in hospitals and thus require the same safety level to be maintained. If a power outage occurs, crucial medical devices must run smoothly with a continued supply of electricity. These requirements are enforced by DIN VDE 0100-710 as well as the “agreement on quality assurance measures for outpatient surgery in accordance with §14 pursuant to “115 b paragraph 1 SGB V”. RSV Ruhstrat offers a battery-assisted central safety power supply system R-BSV 230V tailored to the needs of medical centers, hospitals, medical facilities and medical care units.
